PDF to Word
Convert PDF documents to editable DOCX files — structure preserved, processed in your browser
Drop PDF files here
or click to browse — PDF only · up to 50 MB each
Why convert PDF to Word?
Edit Your Content
PDFs are read-only by design. Converting to DOCX lets you edit, reformat, and update content in Microsoft Word or Google Docs.
Preserve Structure
Headings, paragraphs, bold text, and page breaks are detected and mapped to proper Word styles — not just raw text.
Private & Secure
All conversion happens in your browser using PDF.js and the docx library. Your document is never uploaded to any server.
How it works
Upload PDF
Drop your PDF or click to browse. Digital PDFs with selectable text work best.
Choose Mode
Select "Without OCR" for digital PDFs. Pro users can enable OCR for scanned documents.
Convert
Click "Convert to WORD". PDF.js extracts the text structure, then docx builds the DOCX file.
Download
Your .docx file downloads automatically. Open in Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
The free tier extracts embedded text only. Scanned PDFs (image-only) need OCR — available in the Pro plan powered by Tesseract AI.
Will formatting be exactly preserved?
Headings, paragraphs, bold text, and page breaks are preserved. Complex layouts like multi-column or tables may require manual adjustment.
Which Word version is the output compatible with?
The output is a standard .docx file compatible with Word 2007+, Google Docs, LibreOffice, and all modern document editors.
Is there a file size limit?
The free tier supports PDFs up to 50 MB. Very large files with hundreds of pages may take longer but will process correctly.
About this tool
VisualDocs's PDF-to-Word converter uses PDF.js to extract structured text (with line grouping, heading detection, and font analysis) then builds a proper DOCX using the docx library — 100% browser-side.
